South Carolina cat lost in Maine found

FALMOUTH, Maine — The South Carolina cat that hitched a ride to Maine and went missing has been found.

Lisa Smith of of HART Cat Rescue said Saturday morning Lucy has been found and will be on her way soon back to South Carolina.

Michael Welch, the cat’s owner, said he was surprised Lucy made her way up to Maine in the car of a neighbor with a summer home in Falmouth.

“I guess my cat decided hitch a ride and jump in her car,” Michael Welch, the owner of the 2-year-old calico, said.
