Well, crap. I know it's about time to have one of my cats put to sleep.

I even hate to write it.

He's lost so much weight and now seems to have trouble holding his hind legs up. I've tried everything at this point.

I've been treating him for hyperthyroidism and have been so diligent about his medication and nothing seems to be helping anymore.

He eats and gets around, albeit slowly, but I know in my heart things are going south.

Keep me and Grendel in your thoughts as I make the tough choices.

Our pets look to us to help them in every way... They are totally dependent on our wisdom and love... Even when it's time to help them end life peacefully and painlessly.

My thoughts are with you both. You'll know when it's time.

I've had to do it 4 times now. Doesn't get easier with "practice."

My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I loved that cat and when he started to exit, I used some natural methods and it gave him another 6 months. When it was time tho, I held him and told him it was okay, that he was going to be my spirit cat. He came to me and woke me up the next morning and then laid down and died. It was awful but I knew that he was helping me to not have to make that decision, he did it on his terms.

Funny thing - we all - myself, my 2 grandchildren (who were about 6 and 10 at the time) and my daughter - ALL of us STILL see him!!! I don't care if people believe it or not - we have even seen him at the same time in the house and I have felt him jump up on my bed.

Our pets live on and are connected to us through the bonds of love. Energy never dies, it just changes it's form.

I'm not sure if this will bring you comfort, but I hope so and I do understand and am so very sorry.

Annette (I work at the VA - THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE)

Once you make that difficult decision, know in your heart you’re doing what’s right for him.

When the time comes when I have to make the decision for my girl, I know it will break my heart.

Peace to you both.
