(25,816 posts)I have actually seen that before, and it's still amazing.
Here's something similar, only it's a special needs student doing the greeting.

(15,805 posts)How special each kid must feel to get that attention, and a hug, to start their day! Kudos to the teacher for remembering every greeting, I sure couldn't do it.

(53,061 posts)I think gobsmacked is the name of the third handshake.
Reminds me of when we moved back to the US and we continued to maintain as many Thai traditions as we could.
By strange coincidence her first grade teacher was the wife of my college professor and we were close and we explained that we wanted her to give a Thai (wai, shown below) at the end of the day. The teacher stood at the door and said good bye as all of the students left.
I arrived early to pick her up a few days latter and was pleasantly surprised to see my daughter give a beautiful "wai" to the teacher.
About two months later I had to pick her up again and I went early to see if she had stopped it.
My eyes filled up when I saw that every student took a few seconds and gave the teacher a beautiful 'wai' on their way home.

(5,106 posts)started using rock lyrics as an introduction to classic poetry. It caught on as pretty much standard. It was many years before they came out with a Lifetime movie with a teacher who was doing it, as if she were really a brilliant communicator. I had to laugh. The handshake thing is a great idea and a pretty impressive feat which will help the teacher, as well as her students. Good innovations usually catch on.
