Oh great, I have to ship a box to NC tomorrow,

to a rural address (related to eBay). It should arrive on Thursday but who knows. This is minor compared to the emergency situation people will be facing, of course, and I just hope they make it through this safely.

Maybe Thursday's deliveries will happen; if not, I assume there will be secure holding facilities. I made my box waterproof just in case it could make a difference.

It is expected to make landfall sometime Thursday afternoon, evening. Bennett is south and west of Raleigh, so they're showing that area getting hit Friday. It is still up in the air as to exactly where it's going to go, and for Bennett it's the difference between a direct hit or a sideswipe. If you can get guaranteed Thursday delivery, it will probably get delivered on Thursday. Check with the post office in the morning, there should be some shutdown plans circulating tomorrow since we're only two days out from landfall. We've hosted this particular party a few times before.
Where I live is expected to get hit on Saturday and predicted to be about 40 mph winds, heavy rain and flooding but not hurricane strength. Of course, that's what they said about Hugo, 29 years ago this month.
