Going to Hawaii? - Make a trip to Fur seasons Cat Sanctuary

Welcome to "Purr-adise." These cats on the small Hawaiian island of Lanai have got it made. Amazing weather, meals served in their own "catfurteria," occasional massages, and a steady influx of adoring fans ready to give them all the love and attention they could ever want.

"All the cats are happy, like, you could tell," said Wendy Louie. "They are so friendly. And you could tell they enjoy being here."

Lanai is the least-visited of the publicly-accessible Hawaiian Islands. Overnight guests typically come stay at the fancy Four Seasons resort down on the coast. But tourists with a cat fancy have started flying over just to spend time at a rustic outdoor sanctuary known locally as the "Fur Seasons

1. My beloved cat passed away a few weeks ago

after 11 years with heart cancer, so this looks like such a sweet place!

3. This is wonderful. Those cats may be outside cats at this time but

I have a strong feeling for those adopted would do just fine as strictly indoor cats. It is nice to see something happy.

4. My daughter used to visit Lanai when she was going to school on the Big Island

Her extra curricular activity was sea turtle tagging on Lanai (only in Hawaii!). She even got a honu (sea turtle) tattooed on her lower leg, which led to some wrinkling of noses when she was up for partner at her law firm. I'll have to ask her if she ever heard about the cat refuge. I don't recall her mentioning it, but maybe it wasn't there yet (she graduated her high school there in 2003).
