What Songs Do You Just Have to Sing Along With?

I'm more of a backup singer. I just can't resist doing the backup to Don't Be Cruel (bop! bop! bop-bop!) and Only the Lonely (dum dum dum dum-be-do-wa). And, of course, Lily Allen's Fuck You.

What's your favorite jam?

Looked to my right and sure enough, it is. Good choices there from one Byrds, etc. fan to another.

Blowin In The Wind is just a great song that captures much of what was important in the 60s.

I used, "Graceland," by Paul Simon and "Into the Great Wide Open," by Tom Petty - singing along with every song - to keep me awake on long car drives.

I also like doing the rap from, "You're Welcome," from the Moana soundtrack.

Well, come to think of it...
Kid I could go on and on
I could explain every natural phenomenon
The tides, the grass, the ground
Aw, that was Maui just messing around
I killed an eel, buried its guts
Sprouted a tree, now you got coconuts
What is the lesson, what is the takeaway
Don't mess with Maui when he's on a breakaway
And the tapestry here on my skin
Is a map of the victories I win
Look where I've been, I make everything happen
Look at that mini-Maui just tippity-tappin'

...This is my coping song. If I am, nervous, overly tired, a bit angry or scared I may
start singing this song, either accompanying the video or not.

I especially like singing the high range part. That will brighten my mood.

Actually I sing along to a fair number of songs, I even “sing” along with my Coltrane discs.

That said, probably the single song I can’t avoid singing along with more than any other would be Metallica’s “One”.

“Landmine! Has taken my sight!
Taken my speech! Taken my hearing!
Taken my arms! Taken my legs!
Taken my soul! Left me with life in Helllllll!”

A couple mentioned above, but i've give you three that have resurrected on my list because my wife found a best of album, plus 2 more

- American Woman, Undun, and No Sugar/New Mother Nature by the Guess Who.

- Radar Love by Golden Earring

- Photograph by Def Leppard

I actually stole the CD from my wife's car so i can sing to it in my car to and from work!

On Edit: Since you brought up back up singing, something that i do when my wife and i are riding together. Since i did the high harmonies on songs i didn't sing lead on, she takes the melody and do the high parts. She's always amazed that i can hit notes, even at 62, that she can't even get near. She pretends to be mad about it, but she's just kidding.
