Cemetery plots: need help please

Because this is a somewhat lugubrious topic, here's a nice kitty video to compensate for it:

Ok, now I feel better. My brother and I are trying to sell 3 cemetery plots. Nothing special about
them aside from the fact that they are all next to each other. My father wanted the whole family
buried in one place, but my brother and I have made alternate plans. Mom is already buried there.
Dad decided to go the cremation route after he bought them and is interred elsewhere.

At any rate, we're trying to sell all three, or one at a time. I've never done this kind of sale before,
so my logic was to put them all on Ebay. Not one serious bite. We think we've priced them fairly
but of course we may have to come down on price.

Is Ebay a waste of time ? How do you do this ? Thanks in advance for your help.

Steve

It is never too early to think about these things.

I know this because I had an appointment with an Oncologist and these ads were some of the reading available in the waiting room.

6. Good idea. Place it near the obituaries where old people hang out.

Just curious. What does a cemetery plot cost?

in a pretty OK without being over the top cemetery were about $2000 a piece. That doesn't include anything but the plot, no opening and all the stuff. No, they won't let you come and dig the hole yourself to save money. That will run you another $1000 if you cremate, more if you have to buy a grave liner for a casket, which some places you do and some you don't. They'll tell you the grave liner will keep the body from decomposing, but it won't. They make it less likely that the ground will collapse when the casket does (sorry). Understandable from the cemetery's point of view.

They most likely won't help you out.

Put an add in your local paper. It can take time to get a buyer. You can look at the names on nearby headstones and mail the family a letter in case they need those plots.

11. I am the last surviver of myimmediate family who are all buried at a very large cemetary in Dallas.

So I thoughtI had inherited the remaining 3 plots. I called the cemetary and they said that they were in my brother's name. I said he had died and was buried there. They said that my brother's children got the cemetary plots to use or sell. So I tracked down my neice and told her she would get this windfall and perhaps could put the money to her kids college funding.

I guess I could have just told the cemetary that there were no other relatives but I could not do that. She was so nice and glad her dad (who didn't do much for her when he was alive) could be of benefit to her (and his) grandkids). My poor brother was a tortured soul who drank his health away and died before our mother did.

This post made me remember a lot of sadness...
