WTF is it with "feedback"?

I am so fed up with it!

Finally fell asleep--after lunch--for a nap. I haven't been sleeping well. This morning, it was 3:15 am when I woke up and couldn't get back to sleep. Phone wakes me from a sound sleep. It's some jerk from Home Advisor wanting to know whether I hired somebody from using the on-line service about a week ago.

I've had at least a dozen e-mails wanting to know the same thing. What the hell makes this doofus think that if I haven't responded to their e-mails that I will welcome some phone call from them?

I pay for my phone for my personal use, not so I can be called for fu*king "feedback".

It's my latest pet peeve. Every damn time you buy something, dozens and dozens of e-mails wanting "feedback". What a major PITA.

Anybody else had it with being solicited for "feedback"?

I was literally yelling at this guy after I hung up on him. I was SO pissed to be awakened from a sound sleep. And don't tell me I should turn my phone off, ok? There are things going on in my life that I wouldn't have the same reaction, and wouldn't object to being awakened if someone did need to phone me for an immediate response.

Fu*k you and your "feedback". Number blocked.

OK. Rant off.

Seriously, I often turn off my active location on my Google maps because after I've stopped somewhere for a bite to eat, I'll get a notification asking for feedback on the service.

My wife and I went to the movies last night and I have a loyalty card for the movie theater. This morning, there was an email in my in-box asking me to rate the film and the movie-going experience.

It is getting to be a pain in the backside.

Same with feedback on shopping sites. On e-bay, they want me to provide feedback on the buyer. WTF? The buyer bought stuff. Paid me. No feedback required.

Same with asking me when I call some business whether I want to provide feedback after the call. I called for some reason. The person helped me. No feedback required. I called. The person didn't help me and I asked to speak to a supervisor. You already have my feedback. And meanwhile, by asking me if I want to provide feedback, you've delayed me getting my problem solve or my question answered.

Same with asking me for feedback in the store. I've bitched about this before. The clerk or sales person asks me to give them a five because anything less is failure. Unless you've done something magnificent, you don't get a five. And if you are just doing your fucking job, isn't that ok with the company. It should be a 1-5 rating, it should be a yes or no rating. Did the cashier do his job? Yes or No? And, once again, you'll know the answer is no if I ask to speak to the manager.

Just because you can run metrics on every fucking aspect of your business doesn't mean you should or that you have to. If you can figure out if your employees are doing their jobs without asking me for feedback, you are not doing a very good job of managing your people.

comes with drawbacks, but at least I'm no longer bothered by feedback requests and other nuisances: I unplug my phone for days at a time. If you've never lived phone-free, you can't imagine the pleasure this brings.

Of course, I miss a few important calls, but nothing irreparable has happened so far. Some days I plug it in for a couple of hours, but the first trash call I get, I unplug.

Life is sweet again.

I'm old; my children are grown and on their own; my husband sleeps beside me at night. Nothing can happen that requires I be awakened at night, and very little happens during the day that I need to know about immediately.

There is an e-mail sent 5 minutes after I hung up on him wanting to know how I'd rate my phone call with "Jerry" just now!

I kid you not. I do not live in Colorado Springs. In fact, I live on the east coast. Why would I want to know anything about "Jerry"? Is this a come on to call him back?

Here it is:

You recently had a call with: Jerry. Colorado Springs, Colorado. I like camping in the mountains, listening to classic rock and barbequing. My contact phone number is (deleted his number.). Overall, how would you rate the call?
