by using cheaper ingredients.

My husband used to eat Chips Ahoy cookies all the time. Now he won't touch them. He doesn't like Hershey's Kisses any more either. They have ruined to flavor of so many good things.

It's like telling the customer "hey, we were selling absolute crap by comparison but this *might* be marginally better"

I once re-subscribed to a magazine (in the 70s) at a "special rate" for longtime subscribers. The next issue had a special rate for new subscribers that was lower.

I was had.
