I Think I Have the Flu

Body aches, sore throat with a touch of laryngitis, and generally feeling yucky.

Last night, I went to bed at about 8pm. My memory is hazy about what happened when, but I was shivering uncontrollably for a while. I got up to use the bathroom and I was nauseated. I can't remember the last time I was nauseated - it just doesn't happen. Thankfully I didn't throw up (I hate throwing up).

In the half awake time before I got out of bed, I was so warm that I was sweating. It was great after the shivering.

For now, it seems like the fever is broken. I feel better this morning. Just a little run down and the laryngitis is sticking around.

Has anyone else got the flu this season?

I had a fever most of the weekend. This morning I am just weak and tired.

Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa...

I've never had one. I've skated through unscathed until now.

If not, then it's not the flu. Sounds more like gastritis. If you are having some upper respiratory symptoms, but not respiratory distress (you'd know it if you had it; difficulty breathing), it may be viral syndrome, which is pretty much a URI combined with gastritis or gastroenteritis (all of the above plus diarrhea...)

Once you're feeling better, go get your flu shot.

I feel just a tiny bit better than two days ago. No more nausea, thank goodness.

Laryngitis and sore throat are the main things now. Talking makes them worse, so I've been talking only when absolutely necessary.

I took a nap today. I've always said that if I take a nap, I'm sick. It made me feel better, but the long hot shower did even more good. Then, it was back into my jammies and fuzzy bathrobe. No street clothes today.

Be well, everyone! Hindsight on getting the flu shot is 20/20.

is the sudden onset of feeling like you have been run over by a train.
Literally one minute you are fine and the next minute you think you are going to die. High fever, chills, and oh yes - hurt so much even your hair is involved.

Then you have malaise / fatigue for several days, and respiratory symptoms.

Colds sneak up on you. Flu walks right up to you and clobbers you.

Any respiratory infection can turn into something more serious, so get lots of rest, drink water, take mucinex!

It's bad enough to think you have been drugged.

This didn't sneak up on me. I was under the weather for a couple days, then wham!
