3. Are we ever going to have a Friday Night Gin Buzz?

I was reading an article about classic martinis recently and they noted that Americans moved from gin to vodka. Is it time to go retro?

I've got a bottle of gin down in the fridge. But I just like vodka better.

Gin's juniper-y taste just doesn't appeal to me. (I originally bought it when my son-in-law was visiting. He likes it...)

21. I generally prefer vodka. However, a while back an old girlfriend and I were having lunch on a pier

in Florida and she suggested I try a gin and tonic. It was really good, Very refreshing, sitting out there in the sun watching the pelicans and the people fishing. I had two....

Ridiculous-looking birds on the ground. Breath-takingly beautiful in flight...

It's only 18 below! Fresh snow, kitties and puppies all around, great food (if I cook)!

14. I love dogs.

I don't love cats. But strangely, they seem to love me. Every time I'm around someone's cats, they crawl all over me as if sensing my discomfort, and doing what they can to elevate my estimation of the species...

A moose. Any time other than in rut...

15. There are Maggie, the Shepherd -

Jake the backyard explorer who is a Malamute, and Weasel the dachshund all in near proximity!

16. I grew up with dachshunds.

Two miniature reds, and a miniature black-and-tan.

Anyone calling them 'dashhounds' gets smacked upside the head.

Anyone calling them 'weenie-dogs' gets thrown out a high window...

Mine made the most interesting snow patterns! He was full-sized. And only mean to cops! Oh, he loved to ride anywhere, as long as he had the window seat and armrest, and a window cracked for sniffs.

18. I love how brave they are.

Our first dachshund would attack the neighbor's dog, four times her size, if he came into our yard.

He would put his tail between his legs and yark-yark back to his own turf...

It was amazing to watch...

19. You really don't want them to treat cops at the door that way......

The cops collected for their toy giveaway program every year. We shut him in a bedroom! I knew most of the guys. If they came around in "street clothes" it was milder, but Hans could smell cop from a block off!

20. I never had cops come to the door when I was a kid.

But delivery guys loved our dogs and always greeted them specially...
