The Borgia's of the 15th & 16th centuries versus the Trump family

I've been watching the series on Netflix about The Borgia's. I began almost immediately drawing comparisons between them and the Trump family basically because there is so much deceit, debauchery, playing with sex workers, blackmail, treason, murder, betrayal, etc. I've really worked my way through the series now binge watching. The use of faked love of God for power and fooling the masses is in there too which is also a Trump thing.

I must say I watched them do murder and mayhem, hypocrisy and even incest and so much much more and all in all I still found them more classy than today's Trump family. And that's the truth

1. Yep. The drumpf family and administration has taken US back

to the 15th or 16th centuries. History ALWAYS repeats itself when humans are involved!

2. A rather disquieting thought considering their corruption weakened the church

helping paved the schism and war.

3. I read a book about them years ago.

The subject matter was fascinating, but wasn't a very good book, which is surprising since it was by Mario Puzo. I believe his son completed it after he died and it was called, "The Family". Lucrezia was made out to be a pawn, and it seems she's the one most vilified throughout history. I might check out the series. I call the Trump the Orange Borgia because the family really does remind me of them.

4. The Borgias were also patrons of the arts, and helped spark the Renaissance.

45 only stiffs craftsmen for their rightful pay, and overpays for tacky paintings of himself. To be perfectly fair, I don't know that he's ever been guilty of simony.

5. I was just going to say, at least the Borgias had some redeeming qualities.

That is not something you can say about the Trumps. So there is a difference.
