Ferrets are Cool
(21,103 posts)more than any other disc I own. And that is no small feat. I love everything about it.
And while I LOVE this video that you have in your post, it was mislabled by the Youtuber. Symphonic Live was recorded in 2002 and Rick was not a part of it. The amazing Tom Brislin was the keyboardist. Please correct me if I am wrong. I often am.

(3,413 posts)If you scroll down and read the comments, this error was pointed out. It still remains one of my very favorite Yes videos. I hope you enjoyed it!
Edited to add: A commenter suggested it was recorded at Live At Montreux. I really don't know of the origin, I just know that I LOVE it!

(3,413 posts)However, Keith Emerson is a close SECOND to Rick Wakeman....to each his own.
Ferrets are Cool
(21,103 posts)Keith was MUCH MORE influential than Rick. Neener, Neener.

Haggis for Breakfast
(6,831 posts)I wish they'd re-name themselves. Maybe . . . Yes, Again.
But it is NOT YES for me without the Keeper of the flame - Chris Squire. Without Chris Squire is just is not YES to me. He was THE glue that held that band together, through thick and thin, year in, year out. The only member of the band that never left. He was in every version of YES. He was a phenomenal bass player and was responsible for taking the bass out of the rhythm section and putting it front and center as a solo instrument. And his solos were EPIC. I even had his solo effort, "Fish Out of Water." Pure Squire.
I cried the day he died. A rare form of a rare form of Leukemia, just like my grandfather.
Remember the Squire Stomp !

(25,917 posts)Harker
(13,982 posts)was from a front row seat in Denver. Chris Squire was wearing a white coat that had a blue and red blob on one shoulder, with blue and red piping running down to cuff.
It took me quite a long time to figure out that he was wearing his heart on his sleeve.
Haggis for Breakfast
(6,831 posts)He had a name-tag on above the pocket that read: Chris Squire, Doctor of Love.
Harker
(13,982 posts)He sure had the right medicine.
Thanks for the detail!
Ferrets are Cool
(21,103 posts)And while I will admit that without Jon, it never sounded like Yes, Chris was the backbone. His bass playing was revolutionary.

(38,533 posts)But I miss Steve Howe and Chris Squire too much.
I think Howe may be the best guitarist ever.
