T minus 6 days till Ziggy's neutering! Woo hoo!

I am about to strangle the little booger. He's lucky he's so cute. Half the house is wallpapered with puppy pads, they are duct taped to everything. I am so damn sick of cat pee.

Ziggy was a young stray who visited our yard and then got hit by a car in front of the house. $200 later, the emergency vet told us he was just bruised up. Thank goodness. I think he got bounced off of the car rather than run over, so he's very lucky.

So, he moved into our bathroom (aka the isolation room) and I nursed his pitiful little bruised self back to health. Then he came down with a bad case of calicivirus. He was so weak, I had to syringe feed him and carry him to the litterbox. My thanks? He chose my husband as his favorite human.

And that's how we got our newest cat.

I love him but I think all the spraying has fried my brain. 6 more days, little buddy. Enjoy grooming 'em while you can.

Edit: Here's a pic of my little guy. He's difficult to photograph because he moves too fast. This is the best one I've gotten. He's very sweet when he's not acting like a maniac (or peeing on stuff).

He sure is a cutie.
Puberty male cat pee smells just awful doesn't it.
Have your husband do the taking in for his neuter job so he won't hold it against you.
I can just see the wallpapered with pee pads house - I had to laugh - sorry.
Good luck to you.

Oh yeah, the smell is awful and pervasive. At least it's on the pads and quickly cleaned up. Ugh. We've never had a sprayer before, probably because we've been able to get them in to be fixed more quickly than this time around.

I wish the hubs could take him in, but he's out of town for the rest of the month. We're going in an Uber, and I am also taking a friend's cat in at the same time, so that should be an adventure.

Do you sop up the pee...no cleaning agent...then drown in enzymes? I buy Fizzion tablets online, just the tablets. I have a million spray bottles from all the enzyme products that didn't work so well.

and they have the tablets at Home Depot for $7. The reviews are great! I'm going to get some for the back of the recliner (aaarrgh!) Thanks!

I've tried many enzyme cleaners over the years and have always ended up going back to the diy method:
Sop it up, scrub with dishsoap, rinse and blot, scrub again with dishsoap, blot, then slather the area with a thick paste made of baking soda and peroxide. Let that dry for a day or two and then vacuum it up. Wipe up any powder residue with a lightly damp sponge.

It's labor intensive and a pita, but it works (although sometimes it takes two rounds). I think it's because the anti-grease agents in the dishsoap cut through the oily consistency of the pee.

Tino the Tuxedo is going in next Wednesday morning. I'm sure hoping that is before the spraying starts, I am about a month behind from when I originally planned. Got him from the feed store mid February, he got left at a campground and somebody caught him and brought him to the feed store. Husband thought it was a girl ( ) and brought him home.

I thought he might run off but he has stayed around so now it is past time for fixing!

Hope that solves your problem, sometimes it isn't enough if they have made it a habit.

I love tuxies! We have two and both are little wingnuts. They have such bright personalities.

I hope neutering will fix Ziggy's spraying- I'm afraid we waited too long. We kept putting it off because he's indoors only and all our other cats are fixed and money and blah blah blah...
The spraying just started recently, I think there has been a female suitor lurking in the yard.

Looking at the pic in the OP made me realize how big he's gotten, and how long he's been with us. He even has some cheek pads starting to form now. My baby isn't a baby anymore!
