Any one tour the country using Greyhound?

Looking at the Greyhound website, a one way trip from the nearest bus station to New Orleans would cost me about $180 with the veteran's discount one way. The trip would take about 43 hours but I wouldn't mind if the seats were spacious, comfortable and I could sit at a window seat looking at the passing countryside.

not much to look at. Train trips have been more interesting, you can see people's backyards lol.

shorter trips a few times a year. Mostly the buses are clean and comfortable. They all have outlets to charge electronic devices.

Sussex NJ. It was about 20 hrs. It was quite a memorable trip, I saw Pittsburgh at dawn, it was quite beautiful. I found Wilkes Barre quite a quaint little town. I rode half my trip with a man that was returning home from volunteering after the OKC bombing.
It is the only time I ever took a bus trip, I always flew. I really enjoyed myself.
I should have added this was in 1995.

Back in the 1980's, when you could still smoke on the bus.

I met one friend that I still speak with 30 years later, and I met some of the strangest, scariest people I've ever spent 60 hours with cooped up in a bus. With a shared chemical toilet in the back.

The northern lights across North Dakota and eastern Montana were amazing, though. I was on the right side of the bus to see them (they'll be to the North).

I think it would be an adventure. Pick a destination I haven't been to before, travel by bus, stay at the destination for a couple of days or more, then travel by bus home. Maybe planning a different route for the return so I can see other parts of the country.

from Chicago to New Orleans in just under 20 hours. Your profile says you are in Michigan, and depending upon where, you can take the train to get to Chicago.

I'm on my phone and unable to price the trip, but if you go on the Amtrak website you could do it. If you are a senior, Amtrak gives a 10% discount. I suspect the price isn't much different for the train.

No way I would do a 40 hour bus trip when I could take the train and be there in half the time.

I love trains.

On edit: looks like the price from Chicago to New Orleans on Amtrak starts at $134.

I could take the bus from here to Chicago. I looked at the Amtrak website and a 15 day, 8 segment pass is less the $500 (not including tax or other fees.).

"I took a greyhound bus" using the site search here. I wrote it.

Spacious, comfortable and the window seat??? That's all a matter of perspective.
