I hate when I feel my age

today is day 3 of a 3 day Musical Festival and my body feels like crap. Today is my favorite lineup (Foo Fighters and BMTH) but my ass is dragging! There is not enough ibuprofen and coffee to get me moving. Getting old Sucks!

I go to this festival every year, usually in the pit for the majority....I've stayed out of the pit for all but one set.... Badflower... and I felt it immediately in my knee... haha.

I turned 67 this year. Just you wait!! If I ever find the time to rant about all the stuff plaguing me, I'll make a list.

My trouble is--ever since I started this job (I was 23), I have been on the go pretty much constantly. Both James Bond and Jason Bourne turned the post down due to the long hours and excessive traveling (or they would have, had they been real). Tomorrow, I'll have a quick breakfast at home here in Düsseldorf, lunch on Osnabrück, afternoon coffee near Utrecht, and a late dinner back here in Düsseldorf. And that's a light day.

My age hasn't managed to outrun me yet. I know my time is coming. I'm in no rush to find out when that is.

One of my two immediate superiors once visited me here (they are the top brass, I'm just below them), and asked how I kept up this routine (not exactly the right word, as there is none) six or seven days a week? He said he was exhausted after one day of following me around. I said, well, sure I'd like some help. All we need is someone who can detect counterfeit money or the USA from 1793 onward (including coinage), and that of a few other countries, speaks English, French, German, Russian, Spanish, Italian, Swedish, and preferably Dutch and Catalan as well. Oh, and is willing to travel anywhere and anywhen.

I'm still waiting. Great job security and all, but I've sort of painted myself into a corner at the same time. Still, it beats a desk job from 9 to 5, and while it may yet kill me, at least I won't slowly die of boredom.

And he hasn't been keeping it up full time since he was 23, either. I don't get a two year break bewteen intensive work periods. Two days, maybe. Besides, when he's campaigning, he gets Secret Service protection. I only get protection when on specific jobs, although my team is comprised of ex-Mossad, Moroccans, a Bulgarian and moonlighting members of the Dutch anti-terror elite unit. They're pretty good too (I'm still here after all!).

Also, I'm rather sure he doesn't have Romanian and Serbian bad guys chasing him on occasion, either, just his millionayahs and billionayahs. For that matter, he chases them more than they chase him.

70 in August.. 40 years dragging beached whales across x-ray tables took it's toll...
Aside from the constant and varing siatica, arthritis in the left shoulder, cataract in the right eye and a bit over weight, I'm doing so good I can't STAND it!!!
Yoga, meditation, lots of walking and a good diet (almost vegan) help...
I don't take any prescription drugs...
Oh yes.. a beer now and then.. maybe more now than then!

vision if you have cataracts in both eyes. Beached whales sounds like interesting work. I am in Florida where many of the women on the beaches look like them.

Mine is in the left... I hate growing up. First things first. Need a loose molar pulled. I go to a University dental clinic.. Good prices and good doctors looking over the students shoulders..
The beached whales I pulled are from Florida also... Hollyweird..

32. I'm 55 and go to at least one fest a year

I went to the Maryland Death Fest 3 years in a row but those were a few years ago - it's getting too expensive to fly up so I go to localer fests now. I stay away from the pit for the most part too lol. Although you can get caught up in it if you're too slow. I took my granddaughter and her boyfriend to see the Slayer tour last year and we are going to see Iron Maiden this year although that will have actual seats in an arena. I'll be a little bummed I can't get up close to take some pictures but I'll probably be pretty happy I don't have to stand the whole time. There were more than a few sets at MDF that I was just sitting on the ground at the back lol.

Florida needs more metal fests though. The big ones - not just all local bands in a club for 2 days. I don't mind 5 or 6 bands in a 1 day short fest type scenario as long as the main band is someone I want to see. That's what the last few have been for me.

Last year we were going to go to the fest that Foo Fighters were headlining one night in Jacksonville (Rockville) but they came to Tampa for a solo show so we went to that instead. This year Rockville had Judas Priest one night and I really wanted to see them aqain but we missed it.

The crowds are mostly older and good natured. Ticket prices are cheap. Lodging is more readily available. You don't wait for hours in line for food or bathrooms. And the music is amazing.

Last few OzzFests/Mayhems/KnotFests were murder on the old tootsies. Halfway through the headliner I'm praying for rain.

Actually got rain for the whole show at the most recent SOAD show, but we had seats and were well prepared for the weather as was most of the crowd. If I'd had pit tickets for that one, I'd've never made it to the end of the show...lol.

I had pit tix. only a passing shower for them Friday, but last Night they evacuated the entire stadium for 1 1/2 hours.... cancelled two acts. bummed, but overall still a good weekend. Epson Salt soaks for the tootsies has been my go to lately! haha. and heavy duty insoles... those kids who go all day and night in flip-flops? crazy.
