Here I go again. Need recommendations for antivirus/internet security firewall.

I've tried them all. Won't do Norton or Mcafee. Had too many failures with both in the early years. Also tried Avast with the same results. Zone Alarm is okay, but it would sometimes interfere with the streaming of my security cameras. And it got so persistent I had to disable the firewall. So...why bother?

What is everyone else using for security, and what kind of experience are you having?

since 2009 and get automatic updates. I've never had a problem but I'm sure it's possible.

You have 24 hour service! The first year was a bit pricy, but after that I'm only charged $99.00/year. And you can have the security on up to three devices.

Several years ago I had a virus on my iMac that no one seemed to be able to get rid of. That's when I tried Best Buy and they were able to remove it. The technicians were great!

That's my two cents.

eset.com. They have a free virus scanner online for you to give it a try. Like you, I have tried so many, and this is the first one that has really WORKED for me. I just renewed my subscription for another year. It isn't the cheapest, but you get what you pay for.

Link to the free scan: https://www.eset.com/us/home/online-scanner/

I have a separate machine dedicated to being the firewall. It runs Untangle which is a commercial grade product based on Debian Linux. It has kept our family protected from all manner of threats. Occasionally I read through the logs and the attacks it has deflected are serious.

If it’s Windows 10, use no outside AV. Use the built in Windows Defender. Then use the Brave browser. It has built in ad blocking. You can install Super AntiSpyware if you want to occasionally scan for cookies.

Use Ad Guard DNS if you are really bold. https://adguard.com/en/adguard-dns/overview.html

I have been running Windows 10, without any outside anti-virus program. And the worst that I've seen is that I occasionally tap into a pop-up window telling me that my computer has been breached. Like, maybe three times in the last year. But nothing really happens because I don't follow the recommended link, and use cleaner afterwards and restart my computer.

But I thought I should take precautions because someone misused my credit card a few days ago, and I want to be careful.

Updates are critical and I have never paid additional for any updates. Never had any additional fees. If you want to eliminate headaches, this is the software to buy.
