(5,168 posts)I have a very locked down profile I haven't used in years, but it's connected to a defunct Comcast email I can't access, to request a password, because I have forgotten the old one.
Anyway, I never gave Facebook my phone number, so I can't imagine how they know it. I delete the messages as soon as I get them.

(23,078 posts)Every week we get the following bogus calls - sometimes 2-3x per week.n This has been happening for months.
Our social security number has been compromised and I could go to jail if I don't call immediately to confirm
Our Microsoft account (we only have a Mac) has been compromised and have to call immediately
Our timeshare votes are due now - (we don't own a timeshare and never did).

(22,035 posts)About them having compromising porn, and that they have hacked my email. Both will be released publicly if I don't pay up immediately.

(34,133 posts)I get those but ignore them. First one I got I called the tech support for the company that hosts my website since it was for one of the emails associated with it. The tech was surprised - the ones he gets are for a completely different amount. He assured me that my accounts have not been hacked and everything was OK.
Since then, I have gotten about half a dozen. Now I just block the domain name for the email and ignore it.

I hate these scam calls.

(2,578 posts)Thank you for the laugh! A pox on scam callers! I give thanks for NoMoRobo on my landline. And I refuse to answer calls on my cell phone that don't show the name of the caller. My phone has voicemail set up, so if I received an unidentified call that I need to return I can do that. Otherwise, I block calls from unidentified numbers. Take that, scam callers!
