You, the parent are in charge. And you really don't need to destroy the cell phones with a gun.

This is an example of the problem with guns in this country. If someone thinks that an appropriate way to deal with her children's lack of respect for her is to destroy their cell phones with a gun, then she has a profound lack of understanding of how it came to this. I don't feel like writing the essay needed to explain why she's wrong, but she is. And it's not just because I would cheerfully confiscate all guns. It's more basically that this isn't the solution. She needs to think back on how it came to this.

Oh, and guns are never the solution.
