My old man Bentley (Worlds best co-pilot, and just 2 weeks shy of his 14th Birthday) took his last breath next to me around 3am this morning. I kept him close all the way to the end. Rest In Peace my wonderful fella. You will be missed terribly.

(17,300 posts)I've been there myself a couple of times, seeing one of my best four-legged friends make his/her exit from this world. It's a hard, hard thing to go through. My condolences.
Bentley was a Westie? Did you have him since he was a pup?

(507 posts)He arrived at my home December 2005, after my 1st Westie, Holly crossed the Rainbow Bridge in May 2005. I adopted a Westie Rescue in September 2005, only to have him pass away from Liver Failure 3 months later. Westie Rescue, Charlie, was given up by previous alcoholic owner (sense a trend?)
At that time, I was a City Letter Carrier in Saint Petersburg, FL, and one of my former customers informed me that Bentley was at local pet store. Yup, I got Bentley at a Pet Store. He was already 6 months old, and was a challenge to house train, after living in a crate for so many months.
His reaction to grass I can still remember. I came by a small mix breed toy poodle/Bichon/King Charles mix puppy 4 1/2 years ago named Juno, all 5 1/2 pounds.
Believe I'll stay at one dog. Single (and loving it) and traveling alone with 2 dogs can be a bit nerve racking at times. Anyhow, here's who's left

(9,895 posts)Our fur babies are always hard to say goodbye to, but I have found solace in the memories and the knowledge that they all had a better life than they might have and we benefited from them being around too.

P.S. My folks have a kitty named Bentley ... and one named Healey, and one named Lola ... you sense a trend?
P.P.S. That looks like an Acura ... TL, maybe?

(42 posts)Sounds like Bentley had a great life with you. I know from personal experience many times over how hard this is. Take care during this very difficult time.
