I have procured my Independence Day feast

I believe I heard it on the tee-and-vee that Our Great President, the greatest and hardest-working president in the history of presidents, wants everyone to dine on Mexican food this Independence Day. So, I bought taco ingredients and Spanish Rice mix and I'll start cooking it in about an hour.

And believe you me, you should have seen the dirty looks from the people in Trump hats and/or flag-theme t-shirts as I pushed a cart full of Mexican food ingredients to the register.

Our Restaurant Style Mexican Rice rivals anything you can get in a restaurant. It has the perfect consistency and just the right amount of seasoning.

I love this, it is super easy to make. The only changes is I use olive oil or smart balance instead of vegetable oil. I am not a big cilantro lover so I use about a teaspoon of dried cilantro.
Prep Time: 5 minutes

Cook Time: 20 minutes

Total: 25 minutes

Serves: 5
Ingredients

3 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 cup long grain rice uncooked
1 teaspoon minced garlic
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon cumin
1/2 cup tomato sauce
14 ounces chicken broth
3 tablespoons fresh cilantro finely chopped

growing up my best friend mom made tacos every Friday for dinner. Always, it was an unwritten rule. and always at 5:00pm sharp.

What are they eating? Hamburgers created by Danish immigrant Louis Lassen? Apple pie that whose recipe was originally created in fourteenth century England? Maybe hot dogs that were invented in Germany?
