He practiced and practiced it, so I heard him doing it many times. It wasn't until I saw the movie that I realized my son totally nailed Daniel Day-Lewis. I didn't even make the connection until the end of the film.

4. He may have announced his retirement. I guess he can't give 100% to his roles anymore.

There's a story that he once abruptly broke character during a performance of Hamlet, walked off stage and didn't return, saying he couldn't give any more to the character.

I really admire D D-L, but when I heard that, I didn't think "He's a tortured genius." I thought: "How incredibly unprofessional."

For some artists, it requires a huge strain on them mentally and physically to create. Some to the point of insanity. I think about Kurt Cobain.

If I've gotten great art from someone, I'm thankful and grateful, and if they don't want to do more, I totally understand that.
