Is wine bullshit?

Don't get me wrong... I like wine, and even love it on occasion.

But it's like feng shui to me.... remember when Penn & Teller exposed THAT as bullshit?

Got to thinking about all this as I watched "Bottle Shock" on Netflix last night. (miss you, Alan Rickman!)

3. I have threatened my taste buds with extraction unless they agree to enjoy my moderately priced wine

They folded like a cheap suit and I haven't heard a peep out of them in years.

(Stupid taste buds. I was bluffing).

6. My interest in wine fades at about $15.

Beyond that it's highly diminishing returns.

Occasionally I'll find some very good $8 wines, but those vanish from the shelves rapidly.

Damn you, internet!

7. My son in law is a published master sommelier.. works for one of the worlds largest wine

Distributors. He has always said that a good bottle of wine does not have to be expensive. Of course expensive wine can be a very once in a while delight...like the $150 bottle of port he brought back from Australia.

He very much favors Spanish wines. Says you get the most for your money with wines from Spain

8. I think it was the Wine Enthusiast magazine that, a few years ago....

....on their list of the top 100 wines, rated a $15 bottle of Cabernet from southeast Washington state as number one.

10. Haha, if was really all that good, they wouldn't have to put a drug in it to get you to buy it

Come to think of it, it would be interesting to do a study and give people naltrexone (which blocks the effects of alcohol) and see if they still like wine....

11. On a pension

The Aldi Winking Owl Pinot Grigio brand serves us quite nicely occasionally. And at $2.89 a bottle it's amazing.

12. I'm not too particular about my wine.

There's often a buy one get one deal for a Cabernet for $15-$20 at the store. I just go for whatever brand they are offering the deal. I don't really drink it for the taste. However, I do like a sweet muscadine from time to time.
