My parents were married Dec 1947. My siblings spanned from June 1950 to Feb 1963. I, "the baby" was born September '65.
This picture was taken the summer of 1967. The summer of love.
The jokeyman grabbing his brother's arm died Wednesday morning.
The little shit in the foreground is me @ 2 1/2 yrs old.
I keep focusing on my Mom, in the extreme right of the photo.
Just to make it better one last time.

(892 posts)I am so very sorry about the loss of your brother.
Thank you for sharing your wonderful photo and showing us the fun-loving side of your brother. And you were such an adorable little tot. I hope the two of you shared some great times together, Dennis. Your family photo is priceless and reminds me of that era in time in my own family.
Thank you. I hope it is okay to offer you a hug.
Warmly,
Blue Dawn

(149,560 posts)I wish I had the words to help you now, but all I have are my deepest condolences and sympathies.
You will heal but it will take time. And there is no timetable for grief. Be good to yourself.
We do have a Bereavement Group which you might find helpful. Someone is nearly always there.

May he rest in peace, and may you find peace too.

(70,483 posts)We lost my Dad in late January of 2019 @ 90 and I fought tooth and nail to get him
back home for his last month ... and one of the last lucid things he said was looking
around was, "family is a good thing."
I see your two brothers, sister, and who is holding you in the pix?

(1,639 posts)When one of my brothers died in 2007, I remember one of my other brothers use the phrase "I lost a brother". It struck me that those words had an added weight than when I, his sister, said them.
Of course, brothers and sisters can be very close. My best friend has a twin brother whom she adores, while she and her sister are not that close. Still, there is a longing there for that special same sex sibling bond.
I hope you and your brother were great friends and friendly rivals. From the pictures it seemed as though you understood how to tease and tussle and close ranks when it really mattered.
You lost a brother, but the gift of the bond you had is yours forever.
