(5,240 posts)basically good when you see so much of the bad?

(66,096 posts)There's just that tiny percentage.
As a matter of fact, one of my long-time patients, I've known him for nine years, witnessed the incident. I went back to apologize to him for losing my temper. He smiled and told me it was all right, and that the guy deserved it.
My good patients are the reward for having to deal with the bad...

(66,096 posts)The receptionist tried to get him to stop his behavior, and he called her a bitch. Then my assistant stepped in to de-escalate, and he started calling her a bitch. Then he made very unsubtle sexual remarks to my Spanish-language interpreter, which I overheard from my office. That's when I told him to get out.
As always in such situations, he tried the "I didn't do nothing..." bit, and I told him to get out or I'm calling the cops. Then he did the "I'm gonna sue you!" bit. So I told my assistant to call the cops. He stormed out, and I followed him to make sure he didn't come back.
As it happened, he blundered right into the cops, who's timing couldn't have been better. And he, the cops, and the clinic manager had what I imagine was not a comfortable conversation.
I raised my voice several times to the guy during the incident, and I'm not happy about losing my cool...

(7,606 posts)better for you to have raised your voice than for that disruptor to have continued abusing people.
I'm guessing Friday can't get here soon enough for you!

I had a Dr.'s appt today. I was sent for some pee and I had to walk through the waiting room full of people to the restroom - and walk back carrying my pee cup. It's probably just me being cranky and not feeling good, but I found it humiliating...

(29,122 posts)She wanted to give me a boatload of Im in charge, and youd better say how high when I say jump... For whatever reason or for no reason except her ego, just horribly demeaning. It was stunning. Felt racist but who knows. Ive been working on it as food for boddhisatva growth because I ended up getting a bit reactive when she told me she reports to tRump and hes a wonderful leader.
We all just want peace. Know that your good intentions matter, however you reacted.

(66,096 posts)To hell with them all.
I'm sorry you had to go through that.
A lot of people, like my clinic disruptor, act out due to a sense of powerlessness, and this is how they make themselves feel strong. Others take what little power and authority they have, and abuse the hell out of it.

(13,821 posts)We had cameras in the waiting room and a cop working OT for the hospital. Even with that people did stupid shit.
Dealing with the public can be a bitch sometimes... Good luck..
