i had a great excuse to buy some fonts today.

bwahahahaaaa.

i am doing a little project for the hospice org i volunteer w.
it is a kid oriented project, making scrapbook-type objects to make greeting cards.
i have some jokes, and some sayings, some sappy, some silly.
so, big range. all typography, mostly.
have plenty of frilly and serious, but just not enough silly.

I was just font shopping last week, serious type of project; these are way more fun. Found a great resource, too, an app called Find My Font. Worked better at matching a pic of a font than anything else online, in case you ever need something like that.

the medical practice i use has a really beautiful brand. an obscure serif font that i just love. it found it for me. i didnt get it tho, it was really spendy.

7. well, it's the logo, but also the signage.

lovely, big, brushed brass lettering in all the locations. very bold.
all the pubs, too, are well done. down to the business cards.
color schemes are good, too. that blue is a little brasier on the screen than it is in print. carried out to the nth degree. all the furnishings.

to spend $100 on fonts for a job you arent getting paid for. lol.

but i do have a hard time w free fonts. i hate to see artists not getting paid.
i wait for a good deal, usually, but...

And most days you buy art expecting no $$$ return on your investment.

That's probably why nobody in my family is rich.

It's not that we don't think that way, it's because we can't.

My parents are both artists.

If not for their day jobs me and my siblings as children would have starved.

i rail against people always asking artists to give it away, but then when you ask me, i trip all over myself to help.

i have a good size art collection, the majority of which came from charity auctions.
and thrift shops.
