R.I.P. Doc Watson

Forgive me if this has been posted already but I've been real busy the last few days and haven't had time.
Anyway, a great in folk/bluegrass music, the GREAT Doc Watson died the other day and I just want to say Rest in Peace. He was a trailblazer in country music because when he started out, guitar was sort of an after thought in a lot of country bands, but Doc made people realize that guitar was certainly a force to be reckoned with. He was also one helluva singer. He will be missed.

(Doc invited him up on stage to play with him at a bar in New York City.)

And Earl Scruggs, too, a couple of months ago.

North Carolina is beyond wacky politically, but some tremendous talent comes out of it.

but that's ok. I'll always have room for more Doc Watson.

There was a great rebroadcast of an NPR interview with him from the 80s the other day

It was pretty heartbreaking to hear him talking of the death of his son Merle.
