I've been in Singapore for a few days.

I did well in school and really liked history but I feel so stupid here. All the history I was taught was Judao-Christian. But interestingly it seems the history of Singapore has been completely superseded by those who colonized them. It’s like there was nothing here before the British arrived. No architecture, no art, no music, no society. What is so confusing is they say it was a hub of trade. I’m so confused. It seems to epitomize the saying the winners write the history.

The people were nice. (Auto traffic halted when it was apparent that I wanted to cross the street in the middle of a block.) I didn't chew gum or litter and I didn't have to put anything in the aircraft trash before landing, as the flight crew recommended. You see, Singapore has some very strict laws.

Yes, the rule is that winners always get to write history but we can still dig up the truth if we want to.
