Someone smashed the glass doors of the clinic last night.
It looks like Kristallnacht out there.
People get hopped up on meth, come in to the clinic to make trouble, get kicked out, and this is how they take their revenge. I hope this convinces admin to hire some security for the clinic. Otherwise, this is going to keep happening...

2. Drug seekers are doing that in veterinary clinics near me. Most have been unsuccesful but one
came in through a dog boarding area and managed to let loose some dogs. I never heard whether they found them all safely, but that about broke my heart.
I'm told most medical and dental clinics have likewise upped security after these episodes. I've seen some house practice veterinary vans now sporting signs that they carry no controlled drugs on board (which I doubt is really true, but I can imagine the need to say that). Seems a real problem in Denver, but I've heard reports up the front range to Fort Collins as well. sigh.... |

3. There are signs posted saying we don't keep controlled substances in the clinic.
We do actually have some, but they're locked away in the crash cart.

4. That sucks!
It just adds so much subliminal tension to time spent there. That's what I have experienced after a vandalized workplace.

5. Yikes, Aristus.
That's scary. I worry about our clinic getting robbed. Even though most copays are paid by plastic, we still take in cash. It's a big place and we do have a guard on duty, as well as cameras absolutely everywhere, but so do banks and they get hit all the time.

6. You've had meth addicts at your clinic?
What sort of trouble did they do?
Very little of that occurs around here in Sheboygan, but a few months ago a guy went into our local library's public bathroom, OD'd and died. I had used that same bathroom only a couple days earlier. |

7. We have a lot of meth addicts at this clinic, both homeless and mainstream patients.
We try to get them into treatment, but not everyone will consent to it.
People will come in to take a shower at our facility, but if they act up and cause trouble, they get thrown out, or simply denied shower privileges. It can make for some angry confrontations... |
