Friday Night Wine-Buzz. Ask me anything.

Pouring one out for Glamrock, whom I miss so dreadfully. A kind, fun, funny, DU friend who always has a word of encouragement. Speed his return...

Happy Friday to the rest of you...

I love you all...

Since the Mach Five also functioned underwater.

I used to daydream about taking the Mach 5 underwater for a while where no one could find me. Just chillin' in the driver's seat, breathing oxygen, enjoying the peace and quiet, watching the undersea world go by beyond the windshield.

If I had been a little older, Trixie would have been in that daydream...

By the time I got to be the age where one daydreams such things, the object of my affections was my best friend's sister...

Bummer that her brother didn't have the Mach Five.
The first time I ever heard of Speed Racer was in 1970. A kid in my second grade class used to sing the
theme song. He may have also had a Speed Racer lunch box.

We had a nice little fling. But this was just at the start when she realized what power she had over teenage boys. So I didn't last long.

I looked her up on Facebook a few years ago. She's still lovely; happily married with children. I'm happy for her. Life is good...

I don't remember how I first got hooked on Speed Racer, except to say I was also an avid viewer of that other Trans-Lux masterpiece, Hercules.

I respect all the teachers in my life who tried to make me a little better. I don't want to disappoint them.

I'm going to re-read that when I'm sober to see if it's as corny as I think it is right now...

It hurts too much.

Thank you for your kind words...

First day of Physician Assistant School; they ask us why we wanted to practice clinical medicine. My answer was wildly counter-intuitive. I told them I can't stand to see people suffering.

I work in homeless medicine, so the encounters I have with patients are rarely funny. I suppose the visits in which the patient has been convinced that he or she is dying, and it turns out to be a simple, benign, non-life-threatening problem.

my desk after she wiggled free from her mom, and looked straight at me, then barfed. Yeah, I got spattered. I can laugh about it now knowing the poor kid's tummy wasn't happy.

More than I could handle.

The patients were always angels; it was the parents who were always a headache!...

Loungers who have been around for a while can tell you about the baby I examined once in the wake of a child-abuse incident. I'm still getting over that one, and it's been about six years. I don't think I would have recovered if it weren't for my DU friends...

I can't believe it's been that long, and yet, it seems like yesterday I found this place, floundering around in the wake of sElection 2000, lost, confused, dazed, demoralized.

And then I found my people; like a life raft. Like a last-minute reprieve from the governor.

And I'm still here...

It's always better that way, like it has new life.

Thor: the stronger, the better. True mead, it is said, is brewed only by women, not men.
