I'm looking for a math formula to determine how many bricks I need for a simple circular pathway. Brick cutting will be minimal, since I want to use the soldier technique to layer the bricks. Simple is always better.
Dimensions are as follows:
93" diameter circle. The path would go around this, either three or four brick wide path.
Bricks are 4W x 8L x 2H
I'm using old bricks which I plan to stain, so I need to know how many I absolutely need for this project, since the bricks are quite useful and I use them for other purposes.

(3,972 posts)figure out inner diameter and circumference of each circle of bricks there after, divide by 8.

(52,126 posts)If you just put a walkway on gravel, they'll make nests below. You wind up with mounds of gravel and a wobbly walkway.

Baitball, if you already have the bricks, you could also lay them out where you want them as a sort of "dry run" to see exactly how many are needed before you start staining.
Whst, by the way, is the soldier technique?
