The Simpsons, seasons 3-6: Best TV comedy of all time

I may still be a whippersnapper, but I've seen all the greats: The Honeymooners, Lucy, All in the Family, M*A*S*H, Monty Python's Flying Circus, Cheers.

Let me tell you: The Simpsons, seasons 3-6 constitutes the pinnacle of television comedy.

The general feeling, which I agree with, is that it's gone down hill in the last few seasons... harmonicon Jun 2012 #5

Black Books
Snuff Box
Peep Show

I guess Father Ted has been shown on a few US channels. That's certainly up there as well.

but that shouldn't detract from how hilarious it was at the peak. There aren't many shows that can be at the top for very long. One thing I find interesting is that successful shows in the UK may only be on for a short time before calling it quits, in contrast to US shows that run forever. I guess I'm glad that there's loads and loads of Cheers, for instance, but so much of that was running on its reputation from the early years.

Oh and season 6 is great. Homer the Great has to be one of the best things I've ever watched.
