"What brings you to work each day?"

I'm meeting with the division manager in two hours and can't come up with a response beyond "the pay is great" that doesn't sound like unadulterated bs. This is one question he is asking everyone.

Ideas from someone more creative or business-minded than me?

(It's a low-level technician job in an electronics R&D lab.)

Sounds like the BS I have to come up with for my semi annual review.

Maybe "I enjoy the work and like my coworkers"?

I know what you're saying. I hate questions like that in job interviews. Obviously you come in each day because you have to eat and pay the rent or mortgage, but instead, they want you to come up with an answer that both of you will know is BS.

Short and sweet, make sure you can cite some examples if asked.

I'm not a fan of brown nosing, but if the division manager likes to get feedback from the emplyees you at least want to come off as an enthusiastic person.

Either he'll get the joke or he'll think you're an evangelical. The key is to sound innocent and sincere when you say it.

Last week, Linda Blair was signing autographs at a local movie theater here (in conjunction with the showing of an extended cut of the movie).

I passed.
