1st Order of groceries for delivery from Kroger

As of yesterday, we had 6 confirmed cases of virus in our county. I haven't been in a store since 3/13. My daughter has and will shop for me, but I don't want her to risk her health for me.

I ordered a few things from other places, but haven't ordered groceries. The order I requested is just regular things I get when I go to the store. I am out of a few things, getting low on others, but nothing I can't wait for or do without.

My older daughter lives near DC and has been ordering groceries for almost 3 wks. She said she has to order at midnight to get a decent delivery window, and they are subbing some things. She said her last order wasn't too incomplete. She thinks this last order will be the last one for awhile.

I hope this order will be my last for awhile.

I’ve tried multiple times. So frustrating. Oh well, these are unusual times.

for us to get a slot to pick up what we ordered. There were probably 5 things they did not have and about 6 that were substituted. You drive up and they load it and you go home.

spent 30 minutes putting together a list. Just to get kicked out at the last step.

So I just placed another order to be delivered on April 24 (the soonest available date) even though the April 10 delivery, which I ordered on March 30, hasn't arrived yet. If I'd waited much longer the next delivery wouldn't have been until May. And this is a huge local chain with multiple large stores with tons of stuff (usually).

Takes me forever to type a word or two.

I splurged this last week and paid $10 plus $5 tip to have Kroger deliver. I may go ahead and go myself next week. I have a cheap-o phone plan, and the shopper kept texting me with questions about substitutions and used up about $8 dollars worth of my minutes. Not to mention the fact that when I tried to text her instructions it was just gibberish and she would text me, "sorry, don't understand."

But all in all, it was worth it not to go out. The hard part was washing almost everything, including veggies. The cans and such I let sit for a couple of days and they should be fine.

Searchable web site. I have had a Kroger customer account for ages, in normal times add digital coupons to my accololunt for credit at the physical checkout, look at ads and other things.

I signed in my account and set up a delivery account. I okayed substitutions, but if that doesn't work out, I'll change it.

Right now, sort of feels like Christmas is coming: what am I getting?

Seriously, there are so many things to consider, and not only delivery service being available, but also Internet access, phone access, payment options (Kroger only accepts credit or debit for delivery). When we are through this plague, I bet there will be plenty of work for people who can fix the problems that are popping up.

Hope you get your groceries!

but she kept texting me to say they didn't have such and such and was "this" substitute okay.

I did get my groceries, but I guess I didn't understand the nuances of "quantity." I got 1 jalapeno pepper instead of a pound, and 2 Roma tomatoes instead of 2 pounds. Live & learn, right?

All things considered, I'm really not complaining.

I don't like to use my phone, prefer the bigger screen, so I can see what I'm doing. I imagine I'll be getting messages, too.

My neighbor said she can mark a preference for a non-smoking delivery person. I thought that was cool and I will check to see if I can find that option.

and I feel for you. Verizon cut off my prepaid phone's email, then texting in order to to force me to upgrade to a smart phone which I don't need. But soon I'll have to relent and get one for the very thing you're discussing - groceries. Good luck!

I already pay about $140/month for cable and internet. Besides, I'm old and I can't see that little screen.

Next time, I'll try to get a slot earlier in the day. For some reason, I thought there'd be stock they'd use for pick-up and delivery, but evidently, he's going though a picked over store. Disappointing.

Oh well, at least I'm alive and healthy. Grateful I have other options.
