Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsI had to destroy a wasp nest today.
They had built a nest right on the frame of my entry door.
They dive-bombed me a couple of times, but no stings.
We all protect our families from perceived threats.
I got it.
But in the end, it was either the wasps or me.
I'd be stung any time. The nest would get larger. They'd end up in the house.
My cat. Visitors to my house.
I searched for ways to make them move, but the online consensus seemed to be get them before they get you.

I feel terrible about having sprayed them down, nest and all, with wasp killer.
It really hurt me to watch them die.
Still bothers me.
I killed them.
Out of the blue, to them.
One minute they were fine and happy in their new nest, the next they were falling to the ground, sudden death upon them.
By my hands.
It felt wrong.

(102,228 posts)to seek out my entrance way (and only mine) with Raid. I put out the ant traps that are supposed to deal with them by rendering them incapable of reproducing--of course that did nothing. Weeks later, after the sixth time I'd seen thousands upon thousands of ants all over the entrance way and leading my poor old beloved doggy girl to bring them inside with her when she lost balanced and sat on some--I'd sort of had it.
So, yup, I am an ant mass murderer, I guess. I do try to move bugs and spiders I find inside the house, rather than necessarily kill them, so that I don't feel great about it, but....

(19,768 posts)There are so many of them. Not like you can catch them and put them outside if they're inside.
Ants come in armies.
Wasps seem a rung or two above.
I dunno.
I killed some ants today too, and didn't really feel anything from it.
No choice.
The wasps though. They warned me to get away.
Almost seemed like there was some mutual respect there for a few.
Silly. I know.

Wasps evolved into ants.

And they got that needle in their ass.
