Fingerprints?

So I have to bring my nephew to get fingerprinted so he can apply for a position with Americorps. Our local Sheriff's office no longer does it for free so they gave me numbers of two private companies to call. One place charges $54.00 and I don't no about the other. They wouldn't quote me a price until I told them what classification of fingerprints we needed?!

Anyway, anyone have any ideas?

1. Call your local school district..........

their teachers have to be fingerprinted. They may know where to go and the costs associated with it.

I'll do that. Our town court said the state troopers would probably do it so I'm going to call some tomorrow and I will call the school district too. Thank you.

7. One of the local hospitals comes to fingerprint kids, too.

Only if the parents give permission, of course. The fingerprints go directly to the parents in case their child goes missing, or something.

Our district does not require teachers to be fingerprinted, though.

2. Have him get arrested. They do it for free.

Good one. Then Americorps wouldn't want him though. It just frosts me to pay so much for something that used to be free here not that long ago. I have a few leads on other sources that I hope will save him the money.

6. I had to get it done for a job

I went to our local Police Department. I don't remember if there was a fee. If there was, it was a small fee, because I don't remember going "OMG, $50? WTF"

That's exactly what I said to the guy at the private business that quoted me the $54.00! I'm going to call some of the local PD's tomorrow as the Town Court Clerk said she thinks they will do it.
