(4,516 posts)at work and I keep a few in my glove box.
My back up mask is one sent as a free gift when I ordered a quilt:
Its a little wonky but does the trick in a pinch (like when a neighbor stopped by unexpectedly last evening).

Ive been ordering clothes from a little hippie shop in PA since the 90s. They make some items and import others. I think theyve been using scrap material to make masks. I was surprised and pleased when I saw it in my box.

This is my latest. I had to slap it together quickly because I desperately needed to do laundry, and I can't get quarters to use my apartment complex's facilities because of the coin shortage so I had to go to a laundromat that lets you buy a card that you can put money on, and I had to wear a mask, but I needed to wash the other two I had made...
Life is so difficult these days. I'm thinking I'm going to make at least one more for me like this, but I'm going to get fabric made up that says, "It's not a political statement; it's an I.Q. Test." Saw that in a cartoon recently.

One of my previous masks when I couldn't find elastic so had to make ties with bias tape.

And then these were all turned into masks for family, friends, and donations to hospitals. I got rid of a lot of leftover fabric from previous projects.

Fun when you can make a statement! I see lots of team masks, too. A small bit of comfort when your team isnt playing this year.

(152,967 posts)heh - this is a true conversation I had with a Walmart worker when I was wearing a Bears scarf in Texas:
me: could you tell me where to find white vinegar?
him: well I don't know if I want to help a BEARS fan
me: what are you, some kind of CHEESEHEAD?
him: I like the Cowboys
me: well your Cowboys suck, honey; now where is my white vinegar?
him: now is that for cooking or for cleaning?
