and I each have to re-start Firefox at least once a day due to crashes/slow-downs. Pretty soon
Firefox will be so secure and safe that it'll be totally unusable!

It is really becoming annoying... good to know that my ancient machine isn't the issue!

Have to restart often. Cache and memory bloating.

Edge and Chrome more stable.

Skype won't run on Firefox.

Some "not secure' sites Firefox can block.

Hit Windows-R (windows button is the one that bring up the Start menu, lower left)
Enter msconfig.exe and hit enter
Click the Startup tab (in W10 it may direct you to Task Manager, do that if on W10)

Look for extraneous things in the list ... and disable them. Printers are famous for installing garbage you really don't need running all the time. Things named with 'Helper' in them aren't needed. Nothing you disable is going to break your machine, worst case, you just re-enable them and re-start.

If you want advice on anything in the list, lemme know.

If you've had your PC for a long time and don't manage these tasks, they can really add up and bog down your machine unnecessarily. May not help with the Firefox issue, but can help in general.

Of course nothing you disable here will be disabled until you restart

but I recently noticed that pages needed longer to load. I thought it's only due to individual sites or temporary problems with the connection. Only because of this thread, I checked the same sites in Chrome and the loading times are considerably better there.

I switched to Firefox and it was as slow. I thought it was everyone in the world on the internet.

Still it's a thousand times better than Edge. There's a search engine called Bing. Why isn't there one called Bob? And Groucho, Harpo and Chico?
