(53,410 posts)Im sorry about Milo and Jeoffry who you must miss so much. Your paintings are great! I cant wait to see you paint Pixie.
I might paint King Tut. I already made a drawing of him which I posted quite a while ago. But you inspire me to try it.
The Velveteen Ocelot
(115,614 posts)I'm doing a little more work on Jeoffry's painting; I wanted to clean up some details. I'll do Pixie at some point but probably not for a few months. She got a lion cut this summer because of some mats in her fur that she wouldn't let me comb out, and it's mostly grown back but it still looks rough and uneven. Once her coat is back to normal I'll try to get a good photo of her to paint from. The one in my post is from when she was a kitten, and her markings are a lot darker now.
Milo and Jeoffry are still haunting my house; I hear little sounds and sometimes see movements out of the corner of my eye. I do miss their corporeal presences, though.
King Tut is a handsome fellow. You really should paint him!

(53,410 posts)When we lived in an upstairs condo he would easily jump onto the roof from the patio veranda. It was amazing to watch. He would leap up and swing his front paw up onto the roof and use his claws to pull himself the rest of the way up. Sometimes crows, who nested not too far away, would dive at him so hes always wary when he hears them cawing and decides to stay indoors.
Your cats are beautiful and I love that you built a catio for them. I think thats cool.

(34,131 posts)Both those cats passed over the years since. RIP Eddie and Tashi.
While we were adding to the house, we found out that the roof over the porch was leaking. We had to tear off the deck above it to repair and replace it. We rebuilt the deck, then (classic last words of anyone doing a remodel) while we were at it we upgraded the porch, redid the screening, and renamed it the catio.
When we built the house, we put a cat door from the house onto the porch. For the old cats we also had a cat door through one of the doors on the porch. These cats are indoor only so during the rebuild we did not put an exterior cat door. Maya watched us trying to teach Lucas how to go through the cat door, now she uses it regularly. Lucas and Sabra have not been seen using the door, so we're leaving the door to the catio cracked for them even though it is cold.
Tut is beautiful!

(34,341 posts)Sammy and Otis look related but they were actually rescued about 75 miles apart. Sammy was found wandering around in a densely wooded area in 2013 when she was about 4 weeks old. Nobody knows how she got there or how she managed to not be eaten by predators. A coworker found her but as she was very allergic to cats, she couldn't keep her. What could I do? Otis was one of 5 kittens born in 2014 when a very pregnant cat was rescued. He needed a home. What could I do? Rosie was adopted from the local Humane Society in 2017 when she was a kitten. The woman who adopted her had to enter assisted living so it was either me or back to the Humane Society. What could I do?

(7,566 posts)This precious boy is Bermuda and I have no idea how much time that we have left with him. The vet called with the results of his biopsy on October 27th with the news that he has lymphoma. He already has FVR and this will be the 2nd feline family member that I've had to put to sleep in such a short time and I'm not ready to say goodbye.
This precious girl is Moppit. She is older than Bermuda and still rules the home. She actually hasn't jumped up on my desk lately so I think she knows that something is wrong with Bermuda. I did get some playtime with her today so that she doesn't feel neglected. Moppit lierally tells me when it's time to go to bed.
