(7,275 posts)Right? I mean, in general he did, but I'd like to see him repeat it!
(still, cool shot)

(13,862 posts)This is a tradition at the Masters. Usually it is on a hole during the Wednesday Par 3 tournament, where every player skips his ball across the water to see if they can get it on the green, but this guy did it on a regular hole during his practice round.
The odds of making this shot have to be hundreds of times greater than making a regular hole in one.
intrepidity: on edit, I realize that you did know that he was intentionally aiming for the water. Didn't mean to 'golfsplain' this to you.

But they're fun as hell! I've witnessed three others in person and everyone in our group whooped it up. Unfortunately, I didn't see my ace. We were hitting directly into the sun and I thought I sailed the green. While I was hunting behind the green, one of my buddies called out, "Hey, jackass! You're buying."
ETA: Would you call the shot a Splashy? You know, like a Greenie or a Sandy? Thanks for posting the video.

(13,862 posts)But it has an asterisk on it. It was the longest hole........ of a Par 3 course. 109 yards.
I holed a 150 shot from a fairway once, and the guys waiting on the adjacent tee box erupted into cheers and one of them yelled, Birdie or Eagle?
My partners were laughing since they had seen me coming out of the woods, so I had to yell back at the guys, Thats a damn proud Bogey.

(21,995 posts)But it was the shortest hole at 114 yards.
The worst part is we were playing in December and it was cold and the wind was also in our faces. I had to hit an 8-iron to make such a short shot!
Of course, I suck. But I enjoy the game as much as anyone.
