Once upon a time when I worked for the usps. We had to unload the trucks and observe as they dumped the old stamps into big steaming vats of... I have no idea. Chemical things that ate paper. The vats were sunken into the ground, so you could watch your stuff being destroyed.

I remember seeing quite a few soft cover porn books on the ground, having briefly escaped destruction.

It was off one of those mysterious off-ramps off a major highway near a bridge. Like literally under the highway. It was kind of neat.

Just the whole post-apocalyptic vibe of the place, with the streaming vats and traffic rushing by on the highway overhead and some body of water flanking one side.

They came to the house with a big truck that had a camera on the inside that let you watch your stuff being shredded. It was really cool!

You get to bring one big bag I think but I forget if you can watch it. They check IDs. Looked secure.

Reason for the service was that I was cleaning out my house after selling it and had a shit load of old papers. I was so surprised by how big my basement got afterwards.
