Well, I just got a weird call

From an 877 number. The voice identified them self by name and said they are a 'wellness advocate' calling from my 'health care plan' - without identifying the NAME of the plan - asking me to call back (although I realized it was a recorded message when the call cut off as she was giving me their hours. 8 pm local time? It's a freaking toll free number!!! I don't know their local time!). So, what the hell. I called and got another recorded voice (still not identifying the plan) that said to hold until someone is available and DON'T HANG UP!! About 10 seconds later I heard a beeping sound like a busy signal and then I was disconnected!!!

Ok, I'm not sure why any healthcare advocate from any unidentified health care plan would be calling after 5 on a Saturday night but more likely than not it was a sales pitch. If it was a legitimate call (which is doubtful) they will call again.

I hate this whole open enrollment period.

care system.

All the CEO's, CFO's, and all the other O's getting millions in bonuses, parachutes, salaries, and retirements. That's money that doesn't have anything to do with medicine, doctors, nurses, equipment and health.

I just never answer calls if I don't recognize the number, and it's so rare that these mystery callers ever actually leave a voicemail.

Some are located in other countries and can charge you a fortune for the call.

No matter that it said 800.

The ones I get the most are "your vehicle warranty is about to expire" (no mention of what KIND of vehicle I have or WHEN said warranty will expire), and "your social security number is about to be suspended". LOL really!?!

Once I got a call from a heavily Slavic-accented gentleman claiming to be from the IRS. I yelled "How do you sleep at night, you sleazy motherf**er?" His response? "NO, FOCK YEWWWWW!!!!", and hung up on me. OMG, too funny.

At the time I was dealing with LOTS of serious family illnesses so I couldn't risk not answering the phone. Sometimes I'd get those calls 4 or 5 times a day! Those, ones from supposed debt collectors and the credit card debt people.

I have an internet land line. And NORMALLY my robocall blocker is pretty good at stopping hinky numbers but nothing is 100% for sure.

What threw me with this one is, normally junk callers don't leave a voice mail. This number did. BUT, from what you wrote, I think my smartest move is, if they don't state my name in the voice mail, I'll start deleting and blocking that number.

Thanks!

I did not call back, as I don't need anything, thank you very much.

If they don't even mention the name of the company, I'd not return their call. Some scams simply get one to call their number and it turns out be to a 900 number (with a price per minute) or some such. I don't trust anything any more.

I thought it related to the election, and then identity thieves seeking to complete their databases.

It could be pyramid marketing of actual or bogus health care plans.

Any company that can't afford a website and serious brochures is just fly by night in my view.

Enrollment in Medicare health and drug plans from October 15 – December 7. Between candidate campaigns calling for money and Medicare calls both my land line and mobile were getting 4-5 calls a day. I have caller ID so I don't answer any calls where I don't recognize the caller. Thankfully, the election related calls have stopped.

I have tried calling some of the numbers and usually get a "Out of service" message.

I made a recent donation to Ossoff and Warnock for their runoff senate races. That opened a floodgate of emails and a few phone calls asking for, of all things, more! I should have expected this, but it's still a bit annoying. I hope they both win. Then my money will have been well-spent, just for the look on McConnell's face.

I got my Medicare B and D plans all set for 2021, so I can ignore all the good information coming in.
