(26,257 posts)I couldn't belief it, when I rounded that little garden and saw that pretty purple blossom. But then I couldn't believe that I was still mowing my yard, in November.

Bushfire threatens Sydney homes after city swelters through hottest November night on record
The weekend marked the first two consecutive days above 39C recorded in Sydney since 1960
Sydney has sweltered through its hottest November night since records began more than 160 years ago before temperatures again climbed above 40C in the city on Sunday ahead of a cool but gusty change.
The temperature dropped to just 25.3C at 1.09am on Sunday at Sydneys Observatory Hill and rose above 30C shortly after 4.30am. The previous record for the warmest November minimum temperature was set in 1967 at 24.8C.
On Sunday, temperatures in Sydney peaked at 42.6C at Sydney airport at 1.20pm as the extreme heat posed a fire danger across New South Wales.

(26,257 posts)By this time, last year, we had already had at least one heavy snowfall. From what I understand, the forecast for Michigan is a drier and warmer Winter at least through February. All I can think is, we'll see.

(6,836 posts)fairly isolated. She just had quite a scare. There's bush there that hoses can't reach. It took multiple helicopters multiple days to put the bush fire out to the point where she can now sleep through the night agai Until the next one. And the fire season is just beginning.

(26,257 posts)Then I suddenly had a flash of past Springs when by the time the ground was firm enough for the riding mower, the grass was heading to prairie height. So, being as the temps are in the 50's, and it is sunny, I figured it was a good idea to squeeze in one more mow.

(36,745 posts)I noticed up your way the winter wheat is coming on very strong. Stronger than usual. I do elder care up there each week. Another few years and spring wheat will be viable.

(4,950 posts)I am in Syracuse, NY and I think it is a law we have heavy grey skies until March at least with maybe a few days of January thaw before the Canadian icy winds swoop back down. Anyway, it is November 29 and my impatiens are still in bloom!!!!

(210 posts)We're having unusually warm and sunny weather this fall, which probably bugs hunters (Where's our tracking snow!) but pleases many of the rest of us. It's worrisome not just for climatologists, but for those of us who enjoy rural life. After all, northern Michigan is God's country, or one of them anyway. And about the only barriers against being flooded with immigrants (white, brown, black, whatever -- it's not about race) are the crap weather and the crap economy. Also maybe the crap cultural opportunities, though speak for yourself 'cause brewpubs. With balmy weather one of our force shields is down. We're counting on you, Mitch, to snuff the Biden recovery and keep us more downtrodden than the rest of the US. That's an admittedly tacky sentiment -- but truth be told, I like being progressive in a rural land. Development has a price. And, on the other hand, global warming has its guilty pleasures.
