The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsSo I decide I am going to do some shopping today. And that's not a
regular thing but I just needed something to do.
The first store, a big department store, had gone under. So I went into the mall, which is an outside mall since I am here in FL and almost 2/3 of the stores are closed!
So I see this one clothing store and I decide to go in. It's go a lot of touristy island type things, very cute.
And the two women behind the counter say, "Hi" and they don't have any masks on! I said, "You don't wear masks?" and they said "No, we don't wear masks"
So I just turned around and left.
Across the way I went into another little clothing store and I saw the woman behind the counter with no mask and I said, "Can you please put on a mask?" To which she said, "I don't wear a mask"
So I turned around and went out.
I did go into Williams Sonoma, which is a corporate store and everyone was wearing masks. So of course I had to tell them about the other stores and they were kind of surprised. But I bought something from them.
The other stores - they didn't get my business and won't get my business. And they piss me off to no end because these are the people that are ruining it for everyone else.
The stupid..............burns!

(62,387 posts)sounds like they will need it.
I am sure they don't and probably get minimum wage.

(4,657 posts)Here in Mass. I've seen 100% compliance in stores lately. Thank goodness. I wouldn't react kindly to a bare-faced store clerk.
Edit: Oh, I see you're in FL. Ok.

(35,622 posts)some people don't learn until it's an actual experience, such as what they saw when you turned around and left today.
No mask = lost customers.
Simple as that.

(51,438 posts)against their store here this afternoon. Ran in to get some cat items and found 3 customers without masks, 6 employees improperly wearing a mask (including woman filling pickup orders), no cart cleaning nor wipes to do it yourself, and a cashier who didn't know if the state was under a mask mandate. Store also wasn't restricting the number of people in the place
I'm tired of this nonsense. Walmart has made ads about how they're protecting shoppers, but they aren't here!

(25,816 posts)where people wear masks, and mostly wear them properly. Every store I go into has signs saying masks are required.
I'm in Santa Fe, NM.

(204,797 posts)Though I haven't done any non essential shopping, groceries, gas stations and pharmacies - plus one pet supply store that has been the strictest of all since the beginning, they even restricted the number of customers in the store early on.

But alas all I had was a little package.
But it would be great if we could spread this around social media somehow to get people to stop buying stuff at stores that don't care about people's health.

(9,998 posts)Their whole attitude, like they're above putting on a Frickin' mask. Or some BS excuse that they're not effective, because they of course have a degree in communicable viruses.
It goes along with the "Owning The Libs" BS. Then they wonder why we refer to them as Deplorable.

(21,060 posts)The few times I have seen massless theyve been runners or people riding bikes. But the stores are 100% compliant.
Like you though if I went in a store and the workers werent wearing masks Id walk out also.
This virus is real, deadly and dangerously contagious. I chose to lower my odds of getting it by wearing a mask which is not that hard to do. I even work a physical job where I wear my mask for at least 6 hours.

I know the family of a Publix employee in Miami Beach is suing the store because he asked if he could wear a mask and was told no. Soon after, he caught COVID-19 and died.

(9,998 posts)I wonder if Publix will back the store, or leave them out on their own. Publix could pay the big bucks, but hopefully that store, and those who run it, suffer Severely.

(153,114 posts)I live in a very red area but clerks and customers wear masks (although I do occasionally see the MAGAt dick-nose); every store I have shopped from has a notice saying masks are required. Like you, I would not shop anywhere the virus is not taken seriously.
Maraya1969
(22,464 posts)remember the name.
But I told them that if they do not respect the health of their clients then I see no reason why I should shop there.
We'll see if they write back. I'll post here if they do.
