But I don't want to let it overshadow the good.

We elected our FIRST WOMAN VICE PRESIDENT.

Joe Biden DEFEATED that orange POS.

We have vaccines, and if we can just hang on until January 20th, we'll have a competent leader so the vaccines can be administered in a competent manner.

On a personal level, all of my immediate family members made it through the year (so far). My heart breaks for those who can't say the same.

I'm just glad I survived, but I still have to go out and run some errands today so I shouldn't count my chickens before they're hatched. 😬

And we're under a Winter Weather Advisory for freezing rain tomorrow, so at least weatherwise, 2021 isn't looking too good. Fingers crossed we don't lose power

...central time zone, and then AMF to 2020.

The highlight of 2020 was gaining a daughter-in-law in October.

And the election of Joe and Kamala, of course.

Pretty much sucked, otherwise.

I started my day with news that my mom has passed from complications of Covid19. Fitting that she passed on this day, she was in bad shape before getting the virus. At least she didn't suffer long as her symptoms only developed in the last 36 hours. She was 93.5 years old, sorry to see her go but relieved that her suffering has ended.

I am truly looking forward to a better year.

As I said, she was in bad shape, advanced Parkinson's, it was a really rough year for her as she had to be moved a number of times for her health problems and the virus putting her under regular quarantines directly after moving out of her long time home. It was her time. As afar as the virus, she tested positive about six days ago and only started to show symptoms Tuesday. She was sedated, on oxygen and palliative meds.

We were prepared and expecting her to pass at any time all year. A passing is sad but also, in many cases, a relief of suffering. My two siblings who have been caring for her for the last 10+ years can now focus on their lives again.

And I'm okay, my ears started ringing when she passed. I lit a candle for her and let her know I love her. I am more relieved than anything as we have been worrying about every facet of her being for years and trying to minimize the suffering that comes with the ravages of Parkinson's. We'll be okay, and thank you and all of DU for the respite you give.

She was in a bad way before contracting the virus, her suffering with that was brief, unlike so many for whom I have empathy.

The family can enter the new year with a sense of renewal as some have been toiling at her side for over ten years, they can now go forward with their lives. I'm okay, I've been prepared for this for some time and expected she would get the virus sooner or later and that it would kill her. Had a family chat about that two days ago. Her suffering is over and that is the best part, it was so hard to watch her long decline with Parkinson's.

Or, hopefully, the next wretched quarter. If the vaccine distribution improves, maybe second quarter will see some improvement in numbers.

I bet Biden could implement a national roll-out plan AND play golf.
