1. That's a great score

However, there are far too many great soundtracks to call any one score the "greatest."

3. True, hence "arguably"

But this is just so utterly moving. Even after all these years, I still get goosebumps

8. Film scores have always fascinated me

As a musician and a writer, I've worked on a number of films. It's really fun to collaborate with terrifically talented people.

There are some recordings I have of scores that were recorded but then rejected by either the director, the producer or the studio. These include original scores for "2001: A Space Odyssey," "Apocalypse Now" and "The Green Hornet." It's kind of fun to cue up the music track and the film scene and play them together to see what might have been. Usually, the music choice was the right one.

10. Music can trigger some of the strongest emotions.

As well as memories. All it takes is a few notes and one can be instantly transported back decades

Definitely one of my favorites, and a favorite movie with terrific cinematography.

7. Love it

I still have my CD that I bought when the film came out. It was also the first time I had ever heard of Clannad, and I love their stuff!

I live not far from where they filmed many of the exterior scenes in the film. It was exciting around here when the film came out!

I believe it was “Harry’s Game”

23. So this IS Clannad then?

I know a song called "I will find you" by Clannad, but I've never seen this film, nor did I recognise this score particularly as it didn't have the haunting vocals.

I went to the Imdb page for it but didn't see a mention of Clannad.

38. Yes

“I Will Find You” was the love theme from the film. The version in the film is slightly different from the version that Clannad usually does in concert.

11. Love film music. In my next incarnation I plan on being a film score composer.

Either that or world champion chess player.
Or maybe a small-town barber.
so many options...

Another good one that fits, from the movie Sorcerer.

Oddly, they also used it for the trailer for the movie "The Warriors". Fits pretty well, really.

From Witness, the barn-raising scene. The music is by Maurice Jarre, but reminds me of Aaron Copeland.

37. Respectfully disagree

The best soundtracks were by Bernard Herrmann working with Alfred Hitchcock:

The Trouble with Harry
The Man Who Knew too Much
Vertigo
North by Northwest
Psycho
