Justice League is Awesome! My 2nd favorite superhero movie after Black Panther

I am pleasantly surprised! I was not expecting it to be good.

I also want to say thank you to the arts for bringing me joy through out this pandemic. Actors, writers, musicians, directors, animators, hair and makeup, costume designers, set designers, and all involved in entertaining the masses. Sometimes taking your mind off doom and gloom is necessary and healing.

The monthly fee for HBO max is worth it for all the theater releases.

2. Thanks, its cold outside, I'll be staying in and binge watching this weekend. I watched Godzilla

last weekend. Fair warning, Justice League is Loooong! I wonder if it was intended to be this long as a theater release or it was extended because it would be streamed. I don't think I have ever sat for a 4 hr movie! But like I said, it is good, if you are a fan of superheroes, monsters, villains, and the like. I am going to say I like it better than the Avengers.

3. I must retort that Heath Ledger's performance in The Dark Knight makes it the 'Best Superhero Movie'

All by itself.

Though the movie is also pretty generally excellent.

And I didn't find Justice League to be as good as The Avengers, myself, but glad you enjoyed so much t&r

The Superhero movies that I (finally) saw recently that I enjoyed more than I thought I would were the two Guardian's of the Galaxy flicks, esp. the 1st, but the 2nd's still reasonably solid.

Also finally saw Wonder Woman too, that was pretty damn good. The 1984 version I thought was a significant step down in quality vs. the first. Not terrible, but not special.

I also love both Deadpool movies

9. That's in my top 5 movies of all time. Was 2nd favorite superhero movie until today

Are you talking about the 2017 Justice League? Or the original director's 2021 cut? The 2017 version is indeed subpar. This new release which is the original director's cut is a lot more entertaining. Long, 4hrs long, the ultimate binge fest.

10. I have not seen the long version, no ...

Maybe sometime when I really have a long spell of time to kill.

4 hrs ... wow.

17. If you have access to it, the OP is (I'd assume) referring to the Snyder Cut of Justice League.

And its leaps and bounds better than the original theatrical release. It's not a different plot, but somehow, it feels like a totally different film and better for it.

After watching it, I'm not actually sure how Whedon got away with doing what he did lol...

6. I personally loved Batman V. Superman -- but it has to be the "extended" version.

So, I am really looking forward to "JL:The Snyder Cut."

I thought Joss Whedon's JL was subpar.

8. OK so now I must go find that! I remember trying to watch the first Justice League and getting bored

I did not finish watching it.
I originally thought this was a new Justice League movie. I did not realize at first that this was the original director's JL's cut. It is excellent. Thoroughly enjoyed it. I still prefer Christian Bale as Batman but loved it never the less.

I should also add that this new Justice league is not exactly little kid friendly. I may be wrong, but I don't recall other super hero movies where the F bomb was dropped. - It was only twice but still - not for little kiddie's ears -its also a lot more violent .

11. You must've either not seen Deadpool movies, or forgot what they're like ...

Those are fairly hard R actually.

And they're both awesome

You just made me more interested in seeing this 4hr cut though

15. Which they didn't need to add

I loved the movie, but the Joker crudity at the end was unnecessary. It took the tone away from the movie. His baiting Batman was great until that point.

HBO Max has the Ultimate cut of Batman v. Superman. I watched it in anticipation of watching this movie. It is an improved movie.

12. Help me overcome a concern

I watched a clip this morning that featured a voiceover by Wonder Woman as an ancient battle raged between Darkseid and the massed armies of Earth.

I almost couldn't believe how dull it was. If that was the movie's hook, it nearly guaranteed that I wouldn't want to suffer through the other 700 minutes of it. It was like the prologue to Fellowship of the Ring, but shot in a way that stripped out any excitement or urgency.

For that matter, I haven't seen a single one of his comic book adaptations that wasn't, at best, a sort of half-hearted "meh."

I grant that the opening sequence of Watchmen was terrific. Too bad the film was so plodding and lifeless.

And I'm a comic book geek from way back, so it's not as though the material doesn't appeal to me. I read Watchmen during its original release, for pity's sake.

But would someone please explain why Snyder is allowed to wield such power over the DC cinematic universe? Is it because he's dark and gritty?

I may go back and watch the rest of it if nothing else is on.

14. I don't want to give away the movie, but no that's not the hook - It does give you a look into

Steppenwolf's motivations for his mayhem. I liked getting more information about Cyborg and The Flash. Maybe its because I am not a comic book geek, that worked for me. I think those 2 make an interesting pair and I would definitely go see a full length movie with both of them together or separate. From the looks of some of the reviews I've read, it seems more than a few people like the " deeper" storyline of Cyborg. That might set up his own or future sequels.

I also like the different look of Steppenwolf, I read that his look was toned down after Snyder stepped down to make Steppenwolf look more human. I don't know why they thought that was a good idea. He now has a look of a memorable monster. Not. man in a costume.

16. Snyder is an acquired taste

There is definitely exposition sprinkled through the movie. I am a long time comic reader (Justice League was the first team book I read and one of the first comics I ever read), and I did not mind the exposition even though I could piece even the original together.

I enjoyed the movie quite a bit. I have it higher than Endgame but below Infinity War. I thought the pacing was very good (far better than Endgame). Of course I may be viewing the movie through DC fanboy goggles.

If you are in doubt - four hours is quite an investment in time. You might want to check out some of the classics on HBO Max instead. You can watch 2 1/2 classic movies over watching this movie. I do plan to rewatch with my daughter.

I would like to see DC set a different tone than Marvel movies which I also love. I don't want to see a knock off. I would prefer to see the DC characters be more epic in scale - demigods among men. Marvel has a way of diminishing its gods and demigods (I was not in agreement with what they did with Thor and they missed an incredible opportunity with Ultron). You won't see Steppenwolf standing around while Peter Quill calls for a dance off for example. Don't get me wrong - I love Marvel movies. I just don't want more of the same when Marvel already does it so well.
