I had traveled a great deal in those ten years and found I had nothing in common anymore with my
old friends who had never left (and probably never would). "Homeboys vs Travelers" -- nothing wrong
with either type, but we had definitely grown apart in a big way.I made a whole new circle of friends
(and realized after a while that they were ALL people who had moved there from elsewhere... or who
had grown up there and moved away for an extended period -- at the time it was a really STARTLING
revelation. It's made more-and-more sense with hindsight.)
.
It was a wonderful, GLORIOUS place in which to grow up (we lived with a few blocks of The Cascades),
but I was bored to tears as an adult. The local economy was terrible and I eventually moved outside of
Philadelphia (my favorite American city along with D.C.).
.
I remember wicked high humidity there in Jackson.

The fur crew would rather stay indoors, the 10 week old kitten got too hot, and this human treats going outside like its a punishment, sigh.

I have always hated hot weather.

Here in PNW, it's kicking in a bit. 92 for Sunday. First *hot* day. July 4 was 69.

You scared me into looking at the Seattle forecast. It's 82 for Sunday. You must be on the east side of the mountains.

Not bad.

Still no going out but it is usually around 92 or so this time of year.

OTOH, I just looked at the NWS forecast page for Furnace Creek, CA. Temp right now is 104, going up to 116, but the humidity is only 10% and the dewpoint is 37.

It's a dry heat.
