..I no longer even communicate with them. Not even for emergencies. Start buying cool stuff for YOUR new home! starting with new touch faucet that you can control with an app.

$5,000 will split a family. A trust with multiple assets will fracture it. I was in financial services and insurance I counseled my clients to make sure things go to the person you want to have them. If they told me their family was different they could be trusted to share I'd give them examples. People will always justify their selfishness.

Entire families would be at each other’s throats over a few thousand dollars.

My humanities professor used a quote about nations going to war: “When the flags unfurl, the brains go in the trumpet.”

That’s what family disputes are like. No rational thought, just “I want mine. And yours.”

I was sole caregiver for my mom while her dementia progressed over a period of 8 years. My mom wanted to leave her entire estate to me as payment for my 7/24 live-in care giving. Both of my sisters agreed, and when my mom passed my sisters were happy to make sure it all came to me, including the house. It worked out to way less than minimum wage, and I gave a big chunk of it to charity. But in the end everybody was happy.

I love my sisters dearly, even though they are both pretty right-wing.

Be aware of tax and elder law issues. They can stick their nose in when you least expect it.

My Dad refused to deal with anything in his dotage and left a hell of a mess for his family to deal with.

someone on FB who is a mutual friend of my sister ....most likely my son's wife (they are BFFs and yet my son has cut me out of everything...seriously, my sister has probably seen my own grandkids more than I ever have...it's another line of BS in our stupid family)

My sister actually called my dad (who is 87 and still not ALL gone thank you_) and told him he shoud get a lawyer...how dare he give ME the house that was bought for ME in the first place?

so tomorrow I got ALLLLL the forms and we are getting it notarized & filed!!!!

I am so angry that she would try to intimidate my dad like that

when it's all stamped at the recoreder's office tomorrow...though I havent talked to her in weeks..I wanna send her a pic and tell her to FUCK OFF!
