Just got my first shot of the covid vaccine.
I had an appointment in May at a pharmacy 50km (30mi) away, but one closer to home opened up for walk-ins. Got there nearly 2 hrs before they were scheduled to start this morning, I was second in line from the front. Maybe 5 people.
By the time I got out, the line up for vaccines was about a block long.
Astrazeneca, as that's what they're giving out at the pharmacies here in Canada since it doesn't require the ultra cold storage that Pfizer/Moderna does. Pfizer/Moderna are only being distributed through health & rec centers up here and is only open for those 60+. I'm 49. Also no J&J here in Canada yet.
I figured I'd get it done ASAP since they're predicting 18,000 new cases per day here in this wonderful conservative playground called Ontario.
Wife will be watching me for any rare ill side-effects (she had her shot two weeks ago). It's a load off my mind now that it's done.

That said, I try to do curls with my weights once per day and wifey always after me to drink 6 glasses of water/day (as opposed to my preferred rum & ginger ) so hopefully that'll help.

(57,073 posts)Quite different protocols among vaccines.
Is it mRNA type?
I had both Pfizers & only had mild sore arm, esp after 1st jab.
Not letting down guard though!
Who knew we would grow up trying to score vaccines?

(1,794 posts)It's in the same family of vaccines as the Johnson and Johnson (viral vector), but requires two shots.
I know, eh? Strange times. We must all do what we can to keep safe.

J&J & Astrazeneca are in the same family of vaccines (viral vector) except AZ needs two shots. Wish we had J&J here north of the border - if only for that one dose convenience.
Pres. Biden rocks and is sending some our way but I didn't want to delay getting the shot
